MyQAN Study Visit and Sharing Session at Taylor's University on 11th August 2016.

Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus welcomed a delegation from the Malaysian Higher Education Institutions Quality Assurance Network (MyQAN) on 11 April 2016.

Established in 2000, Swinburne Sarawak is the only international campus of Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia. It offers identical courses as its home campus and awards its graduates with the same internationally recognised parchment.

MyQAN aims to nurture a sustainable and matured quality assurance system and culture among higher education institutions in Malaysia. To achieve these aims, MyQAN organises a series of study visits that allow sharing of good practices in internal quality assurance among higher education institutions to close the gap between the institutions.

The visit to the Australian university branch campus by the 28-member delegation led by MyQAN President Professor Ir Dr Shahrir Abdullah was the second of such study visits. The first study visit was to University Malaya on 15 December 2015.

Professor Shahrir and his team were welcomed on campus by Swinburne Sarawak Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Janet Gregory.

The delegation, made up of representatives from various higher education institutions as well as the Malaysian Qualifications Agency, was briefed on Swinburne Sarawak’s quality assurance processes and mechanisms in ensuring academic equivalence across its Sarawak and Melbourne campuses that meet the accreditation standards and requirements of both Malaysia and Australia. Senior representatives from quality management units of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Petronas, Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences and Taylor’s University also shared their experiences in establishing and enhancing the effectiveness of their internal quality assurance practices.

Prior to their departure they were given a tour of the 16.5-acre city campus, including visiting its learning and teaching spaces, hostels, and other facilities.
